Join us for a conversation with AREAA - Founded in 2003, the Asian American Real Estate Association of America is a non-profit trade organization dedicated to improving the lives of the AAPI Community through homeownership.





 

During this session, we will learn more about the origins of AREAA, the amazing women who are making a difference in the AAPI community today and take a deep dive into their research specifically how homeownership, migration patterns and women in the AAPI community are leading the way. We will be speaking with Amy Kong, 2021 President of AREAA, Hope Atuel, CEO of AREAA, and Vanessa Shields, AREAA’s Deputy Director.

Amy Kong, 2021 AAREA National President

An immigrant from Hong Kong, Amy has served the San Francisco and Mid-Peninsula real estate markets since 1988. She is the Co-Founder of Trust Real Estate, in San Bruno, California. Honesty and integrity are her core values in the business and also in her community outreach. Among her various local and national endeavors, she is the 2021 (Asian Real Estate Association of America) AREAA National President. Amy is bilingual in English and Cantonese.

Hope Atuel, Executive Director of AREAA

Hope Atuel has served as Executive Director of the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) since 2012. Her professional experience spans from the private sector to nonprofit association management for over two decades. In addition to her experience in association management, Hope has worked with companies such as Harland Financial Solutions, Crane Company and the Westfield Corporation. Throughout her career, Hope has been involved in launching successful B2B marketing campaigns with a strong focus on customer growth and retention. Hope graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois and attended De Paul University in Chicago for her graduate studies in multi-cultural communications.


Vanessa Shields, Deputy Director of AREAA

Vanessa is the Deputy Director at the Asian Real Estate Association of America, the largest Asian American Pacific Islander membership based non-profit trade organization in the United States. At AREAA, Vanessa produces events and cultural content, and collaborates with top industry leaders and sponsors to further AREAA’s mission of promoting sustainable homeownership opportunities for the AAPI community. Prior to joining AREAA, Vanessa worked as an agent with Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty in San Diego where she produced an architectural lecture series and created conceptual open houses that featured home design and food. Vanessa began her career in fashion design when she co-founded Chadwick Bell in 2007, a women’s ready to wear collection. Passionate about cultivating and supporting communities across disciplines, Vanessa thrives in collaborative contexts that push culture forward through bold ideas, diversity and inclusion.
